5 Things to include in your Breeder Profile to build trust

  1. Tell your story - and tell it to your target audience (also see Crafting a Great Marketplace Listing)
  2. Put a face to the name - if not your actual face, then a lovely photo of your farm
  3. Include a farm logo - If you have one be sure to include on your Breeder profile. Logos are the most effective way to get people to remember and later recognize you. 
  4. Be honest and transparent - Be clear about your experience, advantages that you offer, or objectives. Do not be afraid to admit you are new to Dexters, just be sure to include what you do have to offer and what you have learned along the way. Your story will surely resonate with your target audience.
  5. Share customer reviews or testimonials - Reviews can help build and define your reputation. This could be a reputation for certain desirable traits in your animals, or more about you personally, or both. More and more, providing authentic third party reviews can affect sales.

3 Things YOU must do to build trust

  1. Be contactable - Reply promptly - If you are using your cell phone as the primary way to contact you, please check that your voice mailbox is NOT full and plan to check it regularly (hourly) if you are not in the habit to do so already, and return the call ASAP. If you are using a standard message machine with your land line... update the message so the caller is confident that they have the correct number. Then check for messages frequently and call back immediately.
  2. Offer great customer service - As a Dexter breeder you already know everything a new buyer will need to know. Educate them, point them to resources, make their transition to Dexter owner as easy and enjoyable as possible.
  3. Be reliable -  Do everything possible to keep your scheduled commitments, whether it's returning a call at a certain time, an email on a certain day or having a farm visit to see your animals - follow through.
